My Role: Research, Design Experimentation, Art Direction,
Photography, Graphic Design
This project was conducted during my Master's program where we tried to address two key questions: How can we motivate and ignite the interest of young designers to use more ethical and sustainable materials? And, can we repurpose food scraps, typically regarded as waste, to create innovative materials?
To explore these questions, we experimented with creating bio-materials from clementine and orange peels and designed a magazine/recipe book for designers, showcasing recipes and tutorials on making leather-like material from dried peels. The process was documented on video for social media to help others replicate the experiment. And that’s how the concept for magazine series called "Màt-to" was born for which we also developed a social media strategy. Each edition would focus on a different food scrap to create materials. The first edition highlights oranges and clementines.
